Amma’s Haus – the best coastal, home delivered

Who doesn’t know and love the amazing Asian and Sushi Haus? My recent experience with their South Indian counterpart was beyond amazing. Amma’s Haus delivers piping hot, authentic coastal curries to your doorstep – think appams, gunpowder idlis, crab curries, and prawns!

Starting with

Gunpowder idlis – my first memory of South Indian food happens to be of mini idlis and for years at end, I would only order mini idlis. This surely took back me to those childhood years. Fluffy mini idlis, coated with grainy gunpowder and served with a spicy mayo. Coconut crusted prawns – prawns butterflied, coated with a thick batter infused with coconut and deep fried. These became slightly soggy, as fried things generally do, but the fresh prawns retained their flavour. Kottu Parantha – this was my favorite thing on the menu. Scrambled eggs, meaty chicken bits and torn up parantha all in a juicy mixture with fresh curry leaves and mustard seeds. Having had this dish before, I loved the juiciness of the whole mix and succulent chicken pieces.

Mains

Haus Crab Curry – it is safe to say that this meal brought back tons of memories. This crab curry transported me to the first crab curry I chomped on in INA market at a small but insane dhaba. The thick tomato curry, mustard seeds, and juicy crab meat. Andhra Potato Korma – a thick potato gravy with fresh curry leaves and coconut milk. Mangalorean Lamb Curry – a coconut milk curry, succulent lamb chops, and fresh spices. Dive into it with fresh appams or flaky Malabar paranthas.

Amma’s Haus is a must, must have for everyone who, like me is a sucker for South Indian! Also, do not miss out on the Kuttu Parantha, Lamb and Crab curries.
