With an array of coolers, bubble tea and green tea, we started with amuse bouche and copious amounts of lemongrass and pomegranate coolers.

The tasting menu carefully spanned over salads, appetizers, lots of versions of their incredible Khow Suey preparations and desserts. We started with a sunflower leaves salad with crispy wheat flakes and a tea leaf DIY salad which comes with a variety of condiments and a fresh tea leaf paste.

Appetizers included mock meat steamed buns and brown onion and roasted chilli buns, pan fried rice and sesame seed dumplings topped with spicy raw papaya salad (the mingling textures are delectable), lotus stems dusted with paprika and curry leaves (fried lotus stem with a tadka of crunchy curry leaves and spiked with paprika) and my favourite – Tohu Mok Palata – puffed rice cooked with onions, tomatoes and spices, what seemed almost like a a spicy version of poha and served with a flaky Burmese (Malabari) parantha.

The desserts included Smokey avocado ice cream and honey caviar and what made everyone on the table go for second helpings – Shway Aye – the hearty cooler – chilled coconut milk with sweetbread soaked in and coconut seeds. Yummy and so satiating.
