Petronas Towers

The iconic Petronas towers are not to be missed. Now, the tallest twin towers in the world, these majestic structures were built over 25 years ago. You can take a guided tour of the towers right up to one of the highest floors, but be sure to make your bookings in advance as they tend to sell out quickly. Also, to get some amazing views of the tower itself, take a walk around the KLCC Park.

KLCC Park

This gorgeously, sprawling park surrounding the Petronas towers and other skyscrapers is perfect for a stroll. But also offers the most stunning views of the towers. And naturally, there are many photo-op opportunities. There is also a light and sound fountain show every evening, free of cost.

Menara Kuala Lumpur

After the Petronas Towers, Menara KL is one you can most easily spot. The telecommunication tower stands tall and gives some lovely views of the city. But, the highlight is the glass box. The glass boxes offer 10 minutes in one go, but you can join the queue and go back for more pictures. Be sure to check the weather before you go as they don’t allow you on the sky deck or sky box in case of rain and wind.

Thean hoU temple

The beautiful 6 tiered temple, is filled with many deities and beautiful lanterns. Perched on a hillock, the temple offers stunning panoramic views. The entry is free, and there is not a particular dress code. They have a canteen in the basement and a souvenir shop that you can check out.

Mosques

As a predominantly Muslim country, there are plenty of beautiful mosques. Be mindful of the timings and your attire. Dress modestly and cover your knees and head. Timings are mostly listed on google.

Batu caves

Just outside of the city, Batu Caves is one of the most iconic places to visit in Kuala Lumpur. A series of caves, the iconic rainbow staircase, and one of the only temples dedicated to Lord Murugan. Entry is free, but there is a very strict dress code, especially for women. You will need to cover your shoulders and knees, so best to dress modestly, or carry scarves with you. (Or you would have to buy expensive stoles) And try to get here early morning, climbing a hundred-odd staircases in the sweltering sun, is not a pretty sight.

Genting Highland

To put context, Genting is the Kuala Lumpur, what Mussourie is to Delhi, just much closer. You can take a cab or bus, but the Genting Skyway (cable car) is a must-experience. There are plenty of things to do in Genting Highland, including an indoor adventure park, a theme park, a huge shopping mall, and loads of restaurants! Spend your day in this slightly cooler altitude.

Pro tip – Try to combine Batu Caves and Genting Highlands in one trip, Visit Batu Caves first and then head to Genting Highlands.

Aquaria

One of the only previous aquariums I have been to was the one at Sentosa, Singapore. And even though, Aquaria is not as huge, it is still worth a trip, especially if you are travelling with kids. There are plenty of photo ops, and the gift shop is pretty cool. It is conveniently located inside the KLCC compound. Pre-book the tickets to avoid any hassle!

Pavillion KL

Love shopping? Pavillion is the place for you.
Hate shopping? It is still the place for you.
One of the largest shopping malls in Kuala Lumpur, this iconic and HUGE space in Bukit Bintang is nothing short of a destination. The have the coolest brands, restaurants, exhibits and the vibe around it is electric.

kuala lumpur Chinatown

Chinatowns in any city are special, be it New York or Singapore – but Chinatowns in South East Asian countries are something different. The culture, the food, and the history. Kuala Lumpur Chinatown has some stunning street art and street food, in addition to some of the coolest speakeasy bars and night markets. Oh, and not to forget the massive street shopping, bags, and more.
