Recycle and Gourmand at Junkyard Cafe

Junkyard cafe launched itself with a unique concept of utilizing innumerable everyday nitty gritties to create the sui generis ambiance. Old sinks, used wine bottle, pipes, cycle tyres, planks of wood doubling as drawer cabinets and old computer parts. Starting with their first outlet at Saket, they have ventured across the city.
You are greeted with a huge airplane outside of the building at Rajouri Garden, an array of tyres along the walls, metal scraps, recycled light fixtures, pipelines running through the cafe, painted graffiti and a rustic bar.

Starting with Butterscotch and hazelnut shake – served in the mode milk bottles, this hazelnut and butterscotch shake had profound flavors and on point consistency.

Skeletal number 2 – vodka, white rum, green melon, kaffir lime and topped with lemonade served on mystical liquid nitrogen. A super strong cocktail for the day but great to get the party started.

Nachos Overload – a heap of tortilla chips with fresh salsa, jalapenos, cheddar and topped with sour cream. A perfect ensemble with the right amount of cheese, dollops of sour cream and salsa.

Chicken chello kebabs – minced chicken seekh wrapped in a fluffy egg coating served with steamed Iranian rice, onions and pickled veggies. The seekh was very succulent but the staunch egg smell kind of marred the experience.

Cold Mezze Platter – Pita bread served with hummus, babganoush, tabbouleh, mufabel, muhhammara, olives and pickled vegetables. The mezze platter was wholesome and oh so hearty. A special shout out to their pickled veggies which were completely tantalizing.

For the mains we had the Balti meat combo served with butter naan, mint chutney and onions. The mutton curry was very palatable, light brown spiced up gravy with succulent and juicy pieces of mutton. Pair your curry with your favourite piece of buttered bread and you are golden!

We finished up our meal with a chocolate cake (initially ordered chocolate mousse cheesecake) which looked great but was rather a let down.
