Svami Drinks caused another stir in the beverage space with it’s new product line of Non Alcoholic Drinks. The three variants launched a while ago include Pink Gin & Tonic, Rum & Cola and Gin & Tonic. Talking to Aneesh Bhasin the founder of Svami, he quotes “Svami does everything in-house, from the product recipes to the final manufacturing process that includes bottling and packaging. These drinks are a result of the exceptional talent of their our in house R&D which took months to arrive at these products.”
The category of non alcoholic drinks is now gaining popularity in India. These drinks are perfect for drinking anytime and for people who prioritize taste but do not want to consume alcohol.
Svami Non-Alcoholic Gin & Tonic
I was most excited to try this one out of the three. It’s crafted with botanicals like juniper and different citruses and berries. At the first mouthfeel is like a gin & tonic but given that it’s completely alcohol free, you get a little harshness on your palate later. These are good for drinking anytime and for people who prioritize taste but do not want to consume alcohol. After a couple of sips, I added some gin and tasted it again. It did not taste great as the balance goes completely off if proportional gin is added, i.e 60ml to 120ml of this drink. Otherwise it’s a decent enough drink to enjoy on a hot summer day!
Svami Non-Alcoholic Pink Gin & Tonic
Crafted with strawberries along with botanicals like juniper and different citruses. This one is a little better when it comes to the taste. The sweetness of the tonic and the quinine comes naturally along with a tinge of strawberries. This one is fairly complex but a joy to drink.
Svami Non-Alcoholic Rum & Cola
This will be my go to drink every-time now. As soon as you open it, its unmistakably Rum and Cola. I don’t taste any cinnamon as they claim but the caramel notes are prominent with the taste of cola. I would probably pick up the difference in a blind tasting. Anyhow if you like Rum and Coke enough, then can you enjoy this non alcohol version easily.
