Whisky Samba X Dimsum Bros

Whisky Samba created a lot of buzz this year with their HUGE whisky bar and gorgeous food by Chef Akshay Bharadwaj. They are back with a super fun brunch – a collaboration with Dimsum Bros, they have an extensive and needless to say outstanding dimsum selection and meal bowls. You can choose from over 25 varieties of dumplings and call for second or third helpings.

We started with a welcome drink – The Passport to get the experiential journey started at Whisky Samba.

We moved on to La Isla Bonita, Mr. Spice and Nice, A whiff of him and High Maintenance. My favourite of the lot – Mr Spice and Nice, JW Black Label, Vermouth, Spiced Port, Plum bitters and Orange peel garnish. The simplicity of spices and the distinct flavors of the plum bitters made this the star of the show.

We tried some immaculate dumplings – starting with Chicken black pepper dumpling – thin skinned spicy dumplings dunked in soy sauce and ginger julienne. The other favored dimsums included the Prawn hargow, Japanese seafood roll (fried with a layer of nori), Pulled duck bao and the Pork Pastry – a buttery and well made pastry topped with sesame seeds and stuffed with minced pork.

They also have sticky/ steamed rice bowls available with a variety of sauces and served with steamed greens. We tried the Chicken in Korean sauce served with bok choy and a hint of ginger.

We round up with some flawless desserts – Berry Bubble, a recent addition to their menu, this berry sorbet is made to perfection and hits the spot just right with the fruity berries and fun bubbles to top it all. The Whisky and Burnt Caramel Tiramisu – a classic tiramisu served with caramel and whisky sauce, be generous on the pour or you will make the tiramisu too bitter.
