Miss Nora – Pan Asian comes to West Delhi

miss nora

Miss Nora is here to fill the mounding gap in the West Delhi market when it comes to good Asian food. Warm curry bowls, fresh sushi station and even delicacies like the pecking duck. Located at R Cube Monad, Rajouri Garden, Miss Nora has been done most tastefully by Beyond Designs studio. Bathed in rich gold and beige tones, an open kitchen and cosy bar with cherry blossom propped on top. The outdoors is most exciting, the dramatic black and white portraits papering the walls, and a flower dim sum basket installation.

Sushi & Dimsum at Miss Nora

Thin-skinned, fresh meat, the perfect bite, and well seasoned. The dim sum baskets were well-seasoned, quite flavourful with fresh meats. The same goes for the sushi, the balance of the crunch and soft meats was just right. But nothing didn’t quite stand apart. It was just like any other Pan Asian restaurant. With only one up sight, the location, you could never get Pan Asian this good in the area. Shiitake mushroom open bao was the only one not up to the mark, with the excessive cheese atop.

Beijing Duck

Marinated roasted duck is one of those Chinese classics which you often don’t find outside of 5-star properties. (My last one was at Yi Jing) The crispy duck, wrapped with spring onion and cucumbers, in a thin pancake with date and hoisin sauce. I always prefer extra hoisin sauce on the side. The duck is priced at a much more competitive price at Miss Nora and certainly one of their signatures.

Mains

The curries are what stood apart most here. Beautifully rendered Lamb Rendang Curry with Roti canai. The Indonesian favourite is traditionally drier than this one. With caramelised onions and coconut base, the here had to be the perfectly tender and flavourful lamb shanks. The Katsu curry – with coated fried chicken, sweet potato, carrots and the smooth Japanese golden paste was pretty perfect.

We ended our meal with Kyoto Lava cake and Jasmine tea.

Miss Nora is a much-awaited respite from only Chinjabi food, or Bercos, which I don’t mind going back to time and again. Do try their curries, but I do hope they diversify their flavour profile from the tried and tested classics.
