Poke Bar another reason to visit Guppy

Guppy is synonymous with impeccable Japanese food with one of the few places in the city making it as authentic as it comes. Guppy has recently launched The Poke Bar – India’s first featuring customized Poke bowls – freshest ingredients, choice of protein, rice and sauces. Also housing signature bowls, ramen bowls, and small bites, this new Poke Bar is turning heads with their quirky interiors, a play of colors and unmatched flavors.

Appetizers

We started with Edamame Sea salt and chilly garlic – fresh edamame beans crunchy tossed with sea salt, garlic and chilly and made for an irresistible start. Chicken Nanban – succulent bits of chicken marinated and tossed in Japanese Worcestershire tonkatsu topped with tartar and black sesame. These juicy and delicious chicken pops are without a doubt yummy. Prawn Gyoza – dumplings stuffed with the freshest tiger prawns and then crispy fried served with chilly ponzu sauce. Crisp Vegetable Haramaki – a crispy puff pastry, stuffed with exotic vegetables and yuzu-miso sauce. Guppy’s Signature Pork Belly – slow braised pork belly glazed with soy honey with a slight punch of wasabi. The luscious meaty pork belly is the best pork belly I have ever had.

Poke Bowls

Rice, miso, protein, greens, dressing, and crunch. I always feel that salads and meal bowls lack balance in one aspect or the other. But the Poke bowls are made to an absolute perfection. The dance is simple. You can either choose to make your own bowl and tick out whatever you want to throw in. Or if you are as confused as we were, you can leave it to the experts and try their signature bowls. My favorite was the shiso salmon bowl and wasabi prawn bowl – the freshest marinated salmon and wasabi tipped prawns, crunchy nuts and cracker and fresh mix-ins.

Guppy also boasts of amazing Ramen bowls. Got our hands on the Miso Ramen BowlSmoked pork, boiled eggs, noodles, miso, corn, kale, sesame seeds, and a soupy hot broth. Made with the right consistency, this ramen bowl should really be on your list if you are looking for an authentic soupy bowl.
